My trailer turn signals don't work most of the time when I first plug my seven way plug in. But after I move the trailer even just to back it up for a short distance then they start working. Now sometimes they will work as soon as I'm hooked and without moving at all . I would really like to know what and why. My mechanic had no problem when he inspected it in July.

Check your ground wire connections at both ends. Sounds like you're hitch/ball is providing the ground connection after it gets moved and rubbed to get a clean connection. Probably because your ground wire is not good.

PDGx has given you good advice. A method to confirm .. Use a single jumper cable between bare metal on the truck and the trailer when the lights are NOT working when they should. The IF the lights then work.... It IS a ground issue.

When you describe the lights work after move the trailer. I would check the truck receptacle. Take a test light and clip the alligator clip on the spade that is in the 1 o'clock position the probe the spade in the 7 o'clock position. If it lights your ground on the truck is good.
