Is there one of you out there that will make a simple gooseneck trailer, that is a 2 horse, single axle? With a tapered or bullet nose? Stock or stock combo that is only 12' or 14' on the deck length. Something that is at least 7'2"-7'4" tall. ( inside measurements from floor to roof bows) Because 6'8" tall isnt going to work for 15.2-16 hh) steel would be fine with me. Not looking to spend a lot as i already have on the Living Quarter trailer I have. I need a little "get around" trailer for daily use and dont want a bumper pull. There are a lot of stock combos or stock trailers out there but nothing shorter than 16'-18' long. Too long for what I need. The single axle and tapered nose would be awesome for turning around and getting in and out of tight spots. (Wouldnt do a single axle on a bumper pull though) Any takers?!I have searched for hours on line and cannot find one.

Slant load only. Not interested in straight loads.

The only thing i could suggest is getting a trailer custom built to meet your requirements. i had a trailer built to suit my situation. I went to Shetron Custom Trailers in NC for mine. very easy to work with and i got exactly what i wanted in my trailer and nothing that i didn't.

Look into Hart trailers, they make a short-go or something like that model that sounds exactly what you are asking.

I have seen the Hart model. Too expensive. They are $16,000 and up for that "short go"

Will check out Shetron. Thanks

Got a call from a dealer that sells Circle D trailers out of Wyoming. He said that he could get one out to me. They only go 7' at the tallest though. Hmmmmm

Well, I can think of a half a dozen aluminum companies that would happily build exactly what you are describing. I have a friend that bought a new Sundowner Super Sport last month almost exactly like you describe. But yes, it was in that mid teens price range.

One point- is I had a single axle trailer years ago. With one 7,000# axle instead of 2ea 3500# axles it sure did seem to ride rough if I wasn't fully loaded. But I know I've seen the cowboys out west with 1 axle goosenecks, so maybe I was just too sensitive.

Have had a few single axle trailers--one was 14' and one was 12' goosenecks. They pulled terrible empty---all bounced. We tried different types of tires and inflation pressures but they still bounced. One horse loaded, they were tolerable, and 2 or more horses loaded, they rode fine.
Empty--not so much...
I will never go back to a single axle. To many issues with tires, bearings, axle bending, and bounce. We never could get tires to last. Actual put 3 different axles under the 14' as it kept getting damaged.

Major downside with a single axle... Flat tire is a pain to change on the single wheel set up.

Thanks for sharing your single axle experiences. I had read on line, that some people loved theirs and had no problems with them. Guess i will stick to the double axle. I still like the idea of the tapered nose though. My pet peeve when looking at trailer ads.....lots of people are not posting the trailer height, widths and slant stall measurements. And then when you inquire.....they dont get back to you. This is mostly off of craigslist though and the local equestrian network.

And be careful. I've been trading trailers for many years. I see ads even here on HTW (and sometimes even from dealers) that say a trailer is say 7'6" tall, when it clearly is not. So always measure yourself. Also see "all-aluminum" when you clearly see steel frames.

Horsie1,Yes, i have seen the same exact thing. I am now pretty schooled on all the different "aluminum" trailer brands out there. Which ones are steel framed and alum skinned and or all aluminum. Now, im looking at steel stock trailers and learning the different steel gauges used. Some are pretty thin and single walled. im looking for heavy duty walls in a stock trailer. But cant seem to find any that will make a small stock trailer at 12' -14' that is 7'-7'4" tall and 7' wide. Yeah.....i can have custom made aluminum but am not looking to spend that much. Thats why i am looking at steel for now. Already paid a lot for the aluminum LQ i just bought.
