Basically the same, the 4star has both dinette and coach and generator, the merhow only has either dinette or coach and no generator but keep in mind it's 9 years newer!

You have to decide what you want,dinete and couch, or only either,the genset is a big plus if you really need it,but I can gaurentee the 4 star will out wiegh the merhow by at least 3k.How much will your truck pull and where are you going to try to go with it? We have a 09 merhow with couch and now that we have lived with it a while,I hate it.A convertable dinette makes so much more sense (to us). also we have no gen set,but then again how often will you actually use it or even need it? I would guess not very often and they are an additional maintenence expense and take up space.A honda 2k inverter is really all you need,thats what we carry if we think we will need one.If you need 4k,get two and paralell them.The little hondas can be carried around and used elsewhere at the ranch,not so the chassis mount. The merhow is a really well built unit and so is the 4 star. We only have an 8'sw,i'd like a 10 or 12 with the dinette and a slide for the dinette if I was to do it over. I am assumeing they are both 8" wide?
