So my sweet husband backed my trailer down a very steep hill this weekend, ripping off the black tank fitting (fortunately the tank was empty).  Pardon my lack of proper vocabulary, but the "tube" that connects durectly to the tank, along with the valve that connects to the tube, were both ripped off together in one piece.  How do I re-attach them to the tank?  I see a circular clamp, but do I also use some adhesive or silicone?  The fittings don't seem damaged and neither does the tank.
Thanks!

Welcome to the club! Happens to many of us at least once. Some fittings are sealed in place with adhesive like you would use on PVC pipes (but made for the plastic used on sewer connections. Check to see if it seems to have had that sort of adhesive. If so, you may need to buy new fitting, as its hard to clean old adhesive off. If you could post a photo of the fitting and tank, that would also help

Glad I am not the only one!  I will have to figure out how to post photos.  The fitting has some gummy stuff that just peals off.  I wonder if I shouldn't use something more permanent?

Most fittings and tanks are of ABS plastic. They use a glue unique to them, that you can normally get at and big box store, right next to the glue for PVC. The two are not interchangeable.

Thanks!  Exactly what I was looking for.  Hopefully won't have to do this repair again.
