Honda and Yamaha will be the quietest as far as portable generators go, but certainly not the cheapest. They are also extremely reliable and worth every penny!

You can have quiet or cheap but not both. Cutter is right, Honda or Yamaha. There are really two options, you can go with the single 3000 or two 2000 that run in sink with each other. Single 3000 is quieter by a little but is heavier. If you don't want to pick up something heavy, go with the twin 2k gens, it will offer you a little more power as well. The 3k will run you about $2k and each 2000 gen will cost you about $1k so the cost is about the same. the 2000's weigh about 50lbs a piece so most people can lift them by themselves. The 3K will require a wheel kit to move it about easily for most people. Either set up will run most LQ trailers with Air conditioning, TV's, refrigerators etc.

Goz is correct but with the 2 2000's you will also need the aux fuel tank to run for more than a few hours. With this tank you get long runs times between refueling

You need to find the amp requirement of what you want to run. Amps are the "amount" of whatever type of electricity you are using. So if your window AC unit pulls 20 amps, you need a generator that will supply at least that. Most Trailers use 30 amps as a minimum with some of the bigger rigs having 50 amp requirements. It is not wise to run an AC unit on less than they require. At best it will continuously trip the circuit breaker on the generator, at worst it will burn out your AC unit.

I am looking to buy a new generator because my other one is very loud which is the most quietest and cheapest?
You can get two Champion 2000 watt inverter generators and the connecting cables to put them in parallel for about 800. I've got them and they are quiet and very dependable. Crank on first or second pull every time.
Paul the generator you're referencing is a 3500/4000. The Champion 2000 inverter that I posted about is 53 db which is exactly the same db as the Honda 2000. Hope I didn't step out of line correcting someone who's put 2766 of quality posts on the forum

Paul, what are your reservations on daisy chaining generators? I know it would be slightly louder but when dealing with the twin 2000 or single 3000 Honda, you get more power out of the twin 2k's. I do not have either at the moment. I like the options for remote start, quieter operation and single/self contained gas tank on the 3k. I also like the increased power, lighter/more portability of the 2k, especially if my wife needs to load them, for the 2k. Like I said, I don't have a dog in the fight, just curious on your thoughts (or anyone else's for that matter).

The downsides of twin units are fuel capacity and portability. While they are easy for you to handle, they are also easy to make off with too. I load my Honda 3000 into the truck bed with the tractor and it stays there for the trip. It's also got a locking cable between it and the truck bed. Nothing is 100% but most thieves are lazy.

CT, I also have to recommend the Honda or Yamaha. We went with a cheaper brand that was supposed to be just as quiet. We never used it if there was anyone else in the same campground, it was just too loud. After a few seasons, we sold it, and bought the Honda. However, now when we go camping, it seems the "loud generator" people are parked right next to us! Hang on to that loud generator, you might want to use it to annoy your camping neighbors.

So Champions ones are cheaper but are they quiet too? I looked up and saw that my mini window air conditioner only takes 5-6amps. So im not needing a that big of a generator.

Irish Wake pointed out the Champion 2000 checks in at 53 db

I was at the local Polaris ATV dealer the other day and noticed what appeared to be blue Honda generators. Upon a closer look, they are Polaris ones. Appeared mostly identical. Asked dealer price and he said that they are a few $100 less than the Honda but basically the same. Had a few more features that makes sense....hummmm.In this area, we have a lot more Polaris dealers than Honda dealers. Might help in service, parts, etc.

We've used a pair of Honda EU2000s for almost ten years with our Weekender trailer. They have been highly reliable. We have an extended range tank. They run the night through with an A/C operating (and don't disturb the neighbors as they are quite quiet).
The reason we picked the dual EU2000 configuration is portability. We don't have a lot of excess room and on the "sundown" side of 60 lifting large weights is problematical. My wife can move (if not lift into the truck bed) and EU2000. Security comes through a length of sturdy chain that connects the units to either the cargo hooks on the truck or the hitch on the trailer.
The complexity of having two units is a door that swings both ways. If one unit fails we have a second that will do what we need to do (albeit on task at a time). If you have a single unit and it fails you are SOL. So, name your poison!!!
