If I could scrape up the money to replace our LQ roof mounted Generac QuietPac 40G generator, what should I replace it with that will give the power we need and be reliable and not the broken down mess the Generac is? We have a 2005 Platinum 3 H 8 ft shortwall with large fridge, shower, propane heat AC.

Is there a Honda or Yamaha RV generator that I can put on the roof and hook up like my Generac so I can just start it with a push of a button from inside the LQ? Or am I missing the benefits of a portable generator that my husband may abscond with for other jobs?Is 3000 watt sufficient to run the AC and a hair dryer? When our electricity goes out, which it does fairly frequently in our rural location, we used to must move into the LQ trailer - back in the good ole days when the Generac worked.

I would replace it with a Onan 4.0 Micro Quiet. Several places on the web or ebay to buy one. You will need a new controller in the house too. More $$. Good luck! Jg

I know several people who have a Honda 3000 mounted in the hay rack on the roof with a remote starter. We haul our Honda in the tack compartment and unload it to use for the trailer. We have a transfer switch in the house and plug the generator in when the power goes out.It runs the fridge ,furnace , lights , TV ,etc. You just have to remember not to run things like the microwave and coffee maker at the same time as they require several watts.
