I love, love a mid tack. But knew that it also adds weight. I have my first rear tack, and have had to put my tack etc on a diet, which is a good thing. I too had a 4 horse for years, but rarely hauled 4, and only rarely 3, to use the first stall for feed etc. If you can go down both to no mid tack and 3 horse you will knock the weight down a bit. And sliders also add weight...... my dealer let me hook up the trailer I was buying and drive it over to the truck stop and weigh it before I bought it. Can not hurt to ask

I have a 3 horse Sundowner with 14' LQ. I ran it across the scales before we signed the papers, and I will be right at max with the truck. I do have dually, airbags, and it is 4x4. Also I have 6 speed manual transmission. Truck is 2001, when the gross combined was rated at 20,000. Newer trucks are 26,000 to 31,000 or so, depending on truck.
