hello everyone im new on here
just wondering if any body could help me or give me any advice tips whatever im new to this we recently bought a ford transit 3.5 tonne converted into horse box with back ramp on it we are currently doing it up and have nearly completed the job apart from the springs on the back ramp was really in poor condition 1 was longer than the other anfd really rusty so we got told to get rid of them and buy new without the springs on it takes 3 men to lift the ramp its really heavy i have found some foulger springs 4cwt heavyweight to help http://www.jswhorseboxes.co.uk/product_info/427_ramp-springs---4cwt-foulger these are what i have found but when i have spoke to the pwerson selling them they said i should know the weight of the ramp and correctly know where the pivot points etc are i cant get the ramp off to weigh it and i dont have a clue on pivot points and where to put the springs if any body could help me that would be great coz i dont have a clue on this kind of stuff ill try adding a couple of pics of the ramp to try giving some idea on how it looks the frame is box tube with exterior plywood rubber matting and wooden beads with ally sheets added

Welcome to the forum...
When I had an old trailer with ramp, considered installing an electric winch to lift the ramp, draw bridge style. Couldn't figure a place to put the winch though. With a van body, I would mount the winch under the corner of the box, and pulleys to the top of the box and then a hook to the side of ramp. One could detach the cable when the ramp is down to avoid snagging a horse leg. It would be easy to power it from the van battery.
