This looks like a good place to ask this question. I would like to have a stock/combo with fully insulated, air conditioned and wired dressing room. My question is How many feet of horse "box" is needed to comfortably haul 3 horses? occasionally 4? Or maybe a mare & foal with 2 horses? The idea is to keep the trailer as short as possible. I currently have an older 4 horse sooner with living quarters and would like to trade down. I'm no longer showing much and need a more versatile floor plan for trail camping.Thanks.

I have a 16' gooseneck stock trailer without a dressing room that I use for hauling both pigs and horses. It has two 8 foot long compartments that I can easily fit 2 horses into each compartment. If you had a 4' short wall dressing room, that would put the floor length at 20'. In my opinion, that seems like a reasonable length to me, but may not to someone else. I also have a 4 horse slant with a 6' short wall LQ, so my stock trailer seems like nothing. I do love the stock set up for horses that I have never hauled before or problem haulers.

We owned an 18' SL stock combo three horse BP trailer. It would haul three horses in stalls, four if you opened the moveable slant tack wall. It had loads of space and was very versatile. By being able to move the slant wall, the entire length of the box could utilised for hauling. I was able to transport many items other than horses with that trailer.
We repaced it with a three horse SL GN trailer with an 18' box. It has a 4' short wall and a weekender LQ. If a dressing room version is requested, the length measurements are the same. This has a fixed slant wall and can only haul a maximum of three horses.
About the minimum stall length needed for a 7' wide, three horse slant would be ~14', without the tack room. The length of the stalls will vary with the width of the trailers. A wider trailer can have a shorter box length than a narrower trailer, whilst maintaining the same stall lengths. Tack room lengths of one and two feet are available, but not common. We have a trailer with a short wall length of 1 1/2', and it's the shortest I could find.

Thanks, This is the kind of info I've been needing. Looks like I can have all I want for less than 22ft. The closest market trailer I've seen is an Exiss.Karla
