We have just purchased and picked up a 2013 lakota charger from Sundowner of tennesse this month. First let me say we are from WI and yes we drove all the way down to TN to get our trailer. Let me tell you what we found as we looked for our dream retirement horse trailer. We actually found the Sundowner website on Trailer world! The trailer has a well thought out floor plan and tons of storage.I love that the windows in the lq are large.  Its well made and pulls well.  I could go on and on about all its great qualities. If you compare trailers its mid line in price. Honestly, we bought our trailer from this particular dealer because we were treated so extremely well. Communication was top of the line, via email, and phone calls. If I called Sundowner you could count on a return call immediately. I guess comparing trailers is and was an important part of our decision process, but when it came down to which trailer, we  wanted a good guarantee and good resource to go back to about things that will come up w/our trailer, and we  wanted to be treated like our buisness was important. That was our experience w/Sundowner of TN. If you want a great trailer and great service I can reccommend Laurel Hughes P423-337-0515... yup I spoke to her that much......know her doggone phone #...... Give her a call and get yourself a nice trailer!

I'm always suspicious when ones first post sounds like an ad for a dealership.

The only thing better would have been to have it delivered at "NO CHARGE"

I am glad you had a good expierence with SD of TN. I can not say the same. I talked to them about one of there repos and then they never returned any of my calls. They must not have wanted my $(they lost a $50K sale, ha ha). After a week of no calls back I found Lakota of Ohio and got a great deal on a Lakota that I custom ordered. To top it off they deleivered it to me for FREE (to NC)and the icing on the cake they bought my old trailer and helped put all the junk in my new trailer. It was the easiest purchase that I have ever made. ****I am not a paid spokes person just some one who likes good service**** Just be careful with the low plumbing it will getcha!! Other than having to be careful where we take our trailer we love it.

I am not feeling the love...or welcome.... at all, and will not come back, but I will explain myself, I had a trailer for sale on trailer world and had sold it, I took the add off and saw forum, after just getting back from getting my new trailer, I felt pretty darn good and pleased so I joined and I wrote what I was thinking. I am not paid to do anything but my job... I am a federal employee. And I am not going to take the time to write if I didnt care.I had a great experience and I guess I understood people in this forum were interested in trailers and trailer experiences. You guys go w/your tiny world, we would not want to think there was good out there right?  Irishluk is out for good.

We are thinking of getting a slideout. Friends also bought Lakota. Would like some more room for wintering in SW. My concern is I can not find anything about specs on lakota. Hope your new purchase works out well. We currently have a 4Star. My concern is the lakota is the renamed Bison that I have not heard good things about?

wi.threebars, I traded in my 4 Star for a 2013 Lakota Big Horn super slide. The Lakota is nowhere near the quality of the 4 Star. But, this same LQ in a 4 Star would have almost doubled the price. Plus, I would definately still need a Freightliner to haul it with. I can safely haul the 2013 Bighown 3H w/17' SW with my Dodge dually. It weighs less than 13K empty. It's a trade off. You just have to decide if it is worth it to you. I feel like the Lakota is a upper middle class trailer and adequate enough to haul my scooter and a horse around. If I was making a living on the rodeo scene, or was a trainer hauling young horses every weekend, I would stick to a beefer made trailer like 4 Star, Bloomer, Elite or Platinum. I did my homework that placed the 2013 Big Horn way above the Bison and the Universal made Exiss & Sooner. The customer service in warranty at the factory has been outstanding to deal with. The little things in the LQ have been annoying but they fix them. Most of them should have been caught before the trailer ever left the factory.

BushCreek, Apreciate feedback. I do not disagree with the quality of 4star. Trying to get slideout while keeping $ at reasonable level. I have several friends that bought Bisons a couple of years ago because of wanting slideout room. Most have many bad stories to tell of problems. Getting older is great but have to keep GrdMa happy also, while keeping $ balanced. We both agree our current trailer is very nice, slide would just make it more comfortable while wintering in it for 3-4 mos.

Note: I stated weight of my Lakota Big Horn was 13K . That was a typo. It should have read 12K. I took deliver of it weighing right at 11K empty but have since  had a dealer add a new Sundowner built full ramp on the back, fireplace, satelite dish, and a water tank for the horses bringing it up closer to the 12K mark than the 11K.

wi.threebars. Don't worry about Lakota being another Bison. They are not. We have friends that have a Lakota and were so happy with it we bought one. We love it. It pulls like a dream behind our 350 dually. Ours is the 15ft shortwall with slide (3 horse). It comes in just under 10k empty. That includes a ramp and hay rack. It is roomy and comfortable. I would buy one again. For a mid level LQ trailer, I don't think you can beat Lakota for value.
