I am in the market for a Used LQ trailer. I have a Yamaha 3000iseb Generator and of course it is heavy even with wheels.  I mostly camp on my own and I'm a small lady.  What is the easiest way to load?  Do I get a 3 horse for the storage when a 2 horse is so much easier to move around?  I plan on this being my last LQ so want to make the right choice.

How many horses are you taking? Have you thought about a ramp? That would be easier than trying to lift it into the trailer.

Normally only take one horse and had a ramp before but not crazy about a ramp.

I think I would get the 3 horse because you might want to haul another horse. If you have a two horse the you would have to to something with the stuff you have in the first stall. For the generator, maybe rig up a portable ramp.

I would think that re-sale on a 3 horse would be easier than a 2 horse. Something to think about down the road when you might want to upgrade or get out of it.

It is difficult to try and make a decision for someone else but from what you have written and what I have heard other women who camp alone I would probably stick with a 2 horse and try to find one with a built in generator. It is nice to have a 3 horse but getting into some of these campsites makes a large trailer more difficult. With a 2 horse you can get a living qtr. which is a little larger size. The only way I would haul a generator in the same area with my horse is if the partition was solid like for stallions. Most times the trailer is slanted downward and you don't want to risk the generator getting loose and ending up on your horse. You didn't speak about your truck but when I go camping I haul my generator on my truck. I have a flatbed with round bale loader and I load the generator with that. If you have a regular bed you can put a hoist post in the last stake pocket and buy a cheap electric winch to load the generator and just operate the generator while in the back of the truck bed. I do the same thing when I pull my bumper pull trailer and I have ran my generator staying overnight in walmart parking lots.
