Has anyone out ever purchased and used an after market truck warranty ? the 2008 Ford that we pull with is out of factory warranty and has about 70,000 miles on it with no problems so far but with repair bills running so high I would rather be safe than sorry and really do not want to trade for a newer one.

I worked for a Ford dealer years ago in both sales and as a service advisor, and I would NEVER recommend buying an aftermarket warranty. They usually work very hard to avoid paying out on any claim and you really need to go over the fine print to see what is excluded. Save the money you would spend on the warranty to use towards repairs and you'll be much better off!

I've never bought one myself. Basically I always figured I could save the cost and pay the bill myself.

But if you do buy one. Buy the warranty from FORD and not a third party warranty.

I was not aware that Ford had one, if so have you got any idea as to what it might cost and how many years or miles it is good for? my 550 just went out of factory warranty and I would like another couple of years and at least 25+ thousand miles.

Most of the Ford plans require you to purchase, before your current warranty expires.

But here is the page to their plans, so you can compare.

Know that ANY Ford dealer can sell you the plan and it's good at ANY Ford dealer. So you can shop around a little to find a dealer willing to discount the plans.  They took a fairly substantial price increase in September.
