While camping this weekend we decided that we would change our awning. I would like to hear opinions on the electric ones. I understand some are able to be remotely controlled and some even withdraw when the winds pick-up speed. I don't think we would like the automatic model but would like to hear thoughts ( or should we stick with the manual model?) Thanks

Cajunmuleman, when mulerider01 replies back again, rest assured he will tell ya the truth! He and his wife owns the stables/campground in Missouri where a group of us mule riders goes every April that I've mentioned to you about that you need to come check out! Boy, would I love to just have an awning on our trailer much less an automatic one, especially if it senses high wind and will close itself while we are out enjoying a long ride. But, our E-Z up 12x12 works for us for keeping the picnic table dry...guess we could saddle under it in a pinch if it was raining.....

We end up with a table with coffee pot, burner for cooking, speaker for music, etc under the awning. My fear with the automatic model is that if it over reacts to wind speed it will roll up and leave everything exposed if it happens to rain. I am seriously considering the electric model, but am scared of the auto model. I will contact you after 1st of year for details on the "Mule Ride" in MO. Thanks

Ourtrailer came with one. We love it. So much easier. If you leave the sensor on it will roll up a lot on wind but I just turn it off when we are there. I am leery about turning it off when we are not there. If it real windy a lot of times I will just roll it up while we are gone because it is so easy to do so. One trailer man told me they are not fool proof so you need to use caution just like any other awning.

Judy K,
Would love to see a pic of your hubby's appy mule! I've got one too, a dun appy. You might have to resize the pic to something like 640x640. I'm not savvy enough to tell you how to load a pic here although I've fumbled around and have managed to post a few.
Not trying to change this thread, just wanted Judy K to know there are some of us longear lovers on here! I'll try to pm you sometime soon while I'm at work to tell you about some good places to ride for mostly mule riders, a few shortears.

Thanks for the laugh Cajunmuleman! I plan on sending a PM to you and Julep on my work computer as I hate trying to type on my laptop! Just didn't get a chance today, work got in the way! No secret places, really, as most places have been on this website in the camp/trail riding section, but I will also start a new thread there about some favorite places just as soon as I get a chance at work! Promise!

Oh, by the way CajunMuleMan, if you change out your awning are you going to have to also change out the hardware? I just might, maybe, be interested in your old one......
