Has anyone converted their stationary tack to a swing out? How big does the opening need to be?

Thanks.

I converted my stationary rack to a swing out without modifing the door opening. Thankfully the tackroom was large enough for the change. I was needing to make room for a fuel cell added to run the genset.

What's the width of your tack door? Can you share a pic of it?

The door opening is 5 feet. The old saddle rack faced the horn towards the door. The swing out faces the horn forward. I had to do this to make room for tbe gas tank for my genset.

Well, i have a ton of questions..but in my situation, my door is a wee bit smaller than yours so I am not sure if it's even feesible. I am not sure what the minimum size door opening I would need to have to even think about doing this.

any ideas on that?

A smaller door opening may work with your gear. Make a drawing of the floor plan of the existing tack room and where the door is located. Then measure the rectangle of your saddle and send me all the information and I will look at it. May take some pictures too. One more thing I need to know is what your trying to accomplish with the modifcation. It will help me determine if it can be done.

I am short, vertically challenged and it is very difficult to hoist the saddle in/out of the tack area. I always have to stand up on the back end to wrangle it in/out. I would love for it to come to me...rather than me to it.
