I camped this past weekend in the dressing room of my gooseneck. It has an insulated roof but thats it and brrrrr. I usually do not have electricity so need a way to keep warm. I have some friends that use buddy heaters (propane). Is this a safe way to keep warm??? I am afraid of carbon monoxide.... What do other folks use? Help!

I have a 12 volt electric blanket that I put inside my sleeping bag and therefore I can stay warm enough when camping when I am without electricity. I only use my heat buddy to warm the trailer up in the morning and I don't believe the propane tank could last all night. I don't trust it for sleeping, I would rather be a little chilly than wake up dead.

I used the buddy heater before I got my LQ. Never had any issues with using it. I cracked the window in the sleeper area. I also had a wood floor in the dressing room so I drilled a hole big enough to run the hose to a 20 lb tank that sat outside the trailer. So no getting up to change the bottle. Used it for 3 yrs...Still have it for a back up...

Thanks for the comments. I kind of like the idea of the 12 volt electric blanket to use thru the night and a heater to prewarm and also warm up in the morning. Spring and fall camping is when I need a little heat of some kind. I may try the buddy heater but I am just a little afraid of leaving it on all night.

Personally, I don't believe in leaving any device on while I sleep, that has combustion of fuel that isn't directly vented to the outside. Fridges, furnaces etc all vent all exhaust gases to the out side of the trailer. Buddy Heaters and similar devices have no outside vent. Any by-product of the combustion process stays in the trailer.
I know they can be safe, We see Ventless Fireplaces now being allowed in sleeping rooms of homes. But I personally still have a concern about them.
I stay on the side of using it to warm the trailer before going to be and to warm up when I get up. The electric blanket or ceramic heaters running off electricity are more attractive to me. Just be carefull where you place the generator so you are not breathing the exhaust fumes from it.

Even with the windows open...you can succumb to CO poisoning...only sure protection is a co monitor ----- Paul in VT also please add a FireSuppression Systems

I was looking at Zodi heaters, the heater part is outside. It's for tents. I was trying to figure a way to get the heat into the trailer but I liked that the heater part wasn't inside.
