We have a Dometic RM 2652 6 cubic feet fridge/freezer. My last fridge had a setting dial to change the temp up and down. This one is "automatic". Checking it out, it works on electric and gas, but the freezer gets down to 4 degrees, while the fridge part today, was only 56 degrees. Measured with wired outdoor thermometer. The weather today was about 90, and fridge was at 40 degrees when checked this AM at about 75 outside temp.

I'd love to have it balance out a bit, and not have the freezer hitting single digits (fahrenheit) , with the fridge part bordering on food spoiling.

Anyone know if there are settings I can mess with?

Do you have food in both the freezer and the fridge? RV units are not at all efficient if left empty.

you can try "freezer blocking." Basically, freezer blocking means filling up any unused space inside the freezer, as the less air inside the freezer, the less electricity required. The theory is that the compressor will spend less time and, therefore, energy keeping the interior cold.

To freezer block, simply take empty cardboard boxes and fill them with leftover wall insulation. Any form of insulation can do the trick, but most folks stick to basic household wall insulation (fiberglass), as it's both inexpensive and easy to get. You can also use the insulating Styrofoam peanuts used for shipping and packaging, although those aren't environmentally friendly. Once the boxes are completely filled, seal them shut with tape and place them in the empty areas of the freezer.

Thats interesting. It doesnt have a mode and temp setting on the electronic panel on the outside of the door?  I forget exactly what my fridge/freezer is. I think Norcold, 6 cu. It has a button that says automatic which means it switches automatically from electricity to propane when unplugged. It also has a temp setting that I can push and it scrolls from 1 to 9 with 9 being the coldest. I have found on propane it gets really cold and will freeze stuff that is the fridge.

My old one in the camper, had a dial setting. But it was a small 3 cubic feet, with the little time freezer in the fridge. I was always needing to adjust the temp during trips with big temp swings.

I will try stuffing some boxes to fill space, and give it a go again, as yes, it was completely empty.

I also need to contact Dometic, as this was listed on an old recall. See if the previous owner upgraded what ever the recall was

Thanks y'all!

Ours does the same thing but mostly when it's hot outside or people open the fridge all day. The fridge doesn't recover temp wise unless overnight.Wish the fridge and freezer had independent temp controls.
