I'm getting ready to put up ceiling panels sold at home depot that is supposed to be rivited but I would like to know what other fastener can I use to go into the fur strips? Is it necessary to glue them too? What if I ever had to remove them for repairs?

Screws? Easy to remove again if you have to get to something.

The panels don't have to be glued.

If you have a pneumatic upholstery stapler or can rent one, the heads will almost disappear when they're installed in almost any kind of material.

If you use countersunk screws with trim washers, the final affect is more finished than just the plain screw heads.

Lines of screw heads can be covered with thin wood strips, painted or covered with the same materials as the ceiling.

Screw heads can be individually painted, or coloured plastic inserts caps can be added after they are installed.

Pop rivets won't work well, whilst inserted into the wood.
