There is always talk on the forum about this trailer and that trailer and I am of the opinion that any trailer is better than no trailer.
My daughter is showing tomorrow but because of a conflict today we sent her horse to the show with a friend. We were making a list of what we needed to bring to the show and I just decided to throw away the list and bring our trailer. Over the last few years we have stocked our trailer with everything we need. When we get home from a show the show cloths are cleaned and go right back on the trailer. We have show tack, which is actually more of a second set of tack, nothing fancy but it stays on the trailer. When we go to a show all we load is horses, when we got home we take out trash, dirty cloths, and horse.
I watch other people load and unload tack, horses, cloths, blankets, and all the things you need at a show and I'm thankful for what we have....it may not be an $80,000 top of the line trailer but it sure is nice to have.

I have a friend who occassionally invites me to join him for trail rides. He always insist on driving his truck and trailer. And he does have a really nice rig. But I always feel I am missing something when I go with him instead of bringing my own trailer. Something will always get forgotten. Plus he always gets the premium bed and I as the guest sleep on the sofa or secondary bed.

There was a time when I hit local shows with my friend and we each took our own truck/trailer. While the idea of sharing came up they way I saw it is this- at the end of the day when I am tired I can shut my door and simply relax in my own rig. I can sleep or watch TV or read..eat..take a longer shower..whatever. I need my own space and there simply isn't that much in a horse trailer anyway so I want it all! We can sit around and visit in the evenings,talk and chat during the show and even help each other out but I do enjoy my own downtime. Its worth it extra cost for me.

I have a 3 horse LQ and a friend who boards in the same barn who has a 3 horse bumper pull. We feel like we both have the best of both worlds. She hauls with me to shows and with diesel at $4.50/gallon I appreciate splitting the fuel bill. We use her trailer for local trips, lessons, schooling shows, etc. where parking can be tight. We both wish we had each others' trailer as a second trailer, but this arrangement has been economically good for both of us.
Ditto taking your own trailer to shows because you keep all your show stuff in it!

I hear what you all are saying. Several years ago we stepped up our trailer size from a shortwall sw to a long sw thinking this was great. Fro vacationing it was. But going to the vet or day rides it was not. Within 6 month's we purchased a day trailer to do the day to day stuff. Now I have 2 trailers and double the cost. I am not complaining since each has thier value.
