I have never owned a Kieferbuilt, but I know people who do. Like most of the other manufacturers, they depend a lot on their past reputation. I have been shopping for a new lq trailer for months and the Kieferbuilt was one of the trailers I looked at. The one that appealed to me most was the Genesis (240?). The owners I have talked to seem to be satisfied with them, and the only solid complaint I have heard about them is they seem to have an issue with the hinges on the rear doors wearing out. However, their hinges are pretty standard and this might be a problem with some other manufacturers as well. The dealership where I bought a trailer (different brand) five years ago said they quit handling KB because the company was difficult to deal with on warranty issues. That is strictly hearsay of course, and that dealer is no longer in business. My research points to 4-Star, Eby, and Cimarron as being some of the better trailers. However, they are pricey, and KB is more of a middle of the road kind of trailer. I ultimately bought something else, but I would not discourage someone from taking a good look at the KB.

We owned an 05 3 horse without living quarters. We really liked the trailer, but needed a 4 horse and traded. Didn't get another KB but only because we couldn't find one at the time. The only thing I dont like about them is the 60/40 rear doors, the horse door is huge, but the tack area is way too small. We recently bought a living quarters trailer and I didn't look at Kiefers for that reason.

I just bought one a couple weeks ago. Ive owned sundowner and sooner before. Compared to them its a tank. When I looked under it I was even more impressed. I actually like the 60/40 doors on the back. To each his own I guess.

Some KB trailers built in the early 2000nds had issues with the rear doors delaminating. Some were replaced under warranty others were not. Some owners shelled out expensive repairs, again others did not. Some controversy resulted.
I don't know the dates, many more knowledgeable people than I, would better know the details. KB went out of business, was aquired by another company, restarted and kept the KB name and such. I believe I read that the new owners would not accept any warranty work, from claims of trailers manufactured before their buy out date.
I looked at new KBs built around the time period you mentioned. I was sufficiently impressed by their construction to purchase at Congress, a LQ 3H GN model. However before the weekend was over, we decided that we had chosen too small a LQ and canceled the order. I too liked their aluminum build quality, and am sure it would have been a good trailer to own. Many of our members have them, and have often praised their qualities.

We have a 2006 K-B Genesis (EX8310) all aluminum 3 horse w/10' s/w LQ that we bought used 2 years ago & we really love it. We have 50/50 doors on the rear and stall area is insulated. Conversion co did beautiful job on the LQ. I researched on HTW before we bought since there is no local dealer near us & everyone who responded gave positive comments & I also called K-B direct with some ? We are looking to keep this trailer a long time & have been very happy with our purchase. Genesis is their all aluminum & Evolution is their steel frame w/aluminum skin, I think. Happy trailer shopping!

I purchased a 2008 Kiefer x-8093 all aluminum 3h with LQ new in 2008. I have been well pleased with my trailer. I did have some issues with the trailer once I brought it home. Kiefer was very good about having the issue repaired. Had those @#$$%@$^# Carlisle tires on it and had a blow out in less than two years after purchase. Kiefer gave me the number for a contact person at Carlisle and after much "discussion" I was paid full market value for all 5 tires that came with the trailer. Kiefer sent me all the parts that were damaged in the blow out for free. (drop down window, latch/lock for manger door etc) All this occured before the Kiefer "buyout" by the new company. I have since contacted Kiefer (new company) for a part I needed to purchase and it was a lil bit more difficult to get the desired results but I eventually did get my part. Having said that I was trying to get the part shortly after the buyout so they could have still be in a transition phase. I plan on keeping this trailer for a very long time so I hope the new company stays around!
