We just picked up our "new" 04 4star trailer. It has aluminum sheeting flooring. I had pulled the mats back prior to purchase so I knew the floor was in really good shape. When we were cleaning it today (the kind of cleaning a trailer only gets when it acquires new owners), I pulled the mats and washed the floor. There were places where bedding, urine, dirt and manure had accumulated under the mats. This washed away easily but water "ponded" in some of the places. Not deep but I wondered if I should drill a few holes in these low places to let urine out between cleanings. The cross members are fine, the sheeting just has shallow dips here and there.
Seems like a good idea but wonder what I am missing? Obviously, I would need to make certain not to hit anything under the floor.

Where ever the water ponds, urine will as well. A quarter inch drill bit utilised in the deepest areas will effect a good drain. Do be careful not to drill through the underlying structures. A soft faced hammer tapped on the floor panel, will alert you as to where they are located. Usually the flooring will only sag between the floor joists, so drilling into them isn't often a concern.
