After loosing two press on SIMS during our trips to OH, we purchased SS bolt on covers. They don't move and can't fall off. You will probably need the short valve stem extenders to air and check the tire pressures.
Richard Smith at Select Trailer sells these accessories. Feel free to call Roger, the parts manager @ 931-685-4040 and he can ID what you need & UPS it ASAP. We had our set in a few days and they fit perfectly.

so are you saying you had the same problem? I guess I need to go out and remove one of the covers to get a really good look at the setup, there has to be a way to keep them from turning and rubbing the stems.

At our dealership, we have pretty much quit selling the snap on type full stainless simulators for just the reason you stated. They also will come off with road bumps. However, on my own trailer that has steel mod wheels with the round holes in the wheel; I have taken heavy zip ties, and ran them thru the holes on the wheels, and than thru the holes on the SIMS. Pull them as tight as you can, cut the ends off; and the wheel covers stay put, and don't seem to try and rotate either. A bit of a pain in the butt to initially put them on, but it has worked so far to keep them in place. If I replace them though, I will go to the two piece type.

It turned out to be an easy fix, the wheel covers will go on in a few different positions but only one of them is right. Whoever waas the last one to have them off just didn't spend the time to try to align them back up properly. The valve stem is now centered in the cutouts and cannot rub anymore.

The wheel covers are necessary in our part of the country, to keep the studs and lug nuts from rusting themselves together. Even wet torquing the studs with synthetic lubricants, cannot protect them for any length of time, without the covers being in place. Our winters and salt are tough on the wheels' hardware.
If you don't live in a rust belt area, you may not have this problem, and can run the wheels bare.
On one of our old steel trailers, I installed a set of ABS wheel covers from an auto parts store. They were quite inexpensive, greatly improved the overall looks, and never failed. I bought the whole set for about what the value is for one SS SIMS. Times sure change.

LPS-3 doesn't even last here when it's unprotected. Our commonwealth storm drivers will salt over inches of snow, before they will even consider plowing. At least in upstate NY they know how to handle bad weather. Your "dustings" would close most of our roads.
