It really is a challenge to take out whatever glue residue is left on any surface all the more if you have left it to somewhat bake and stick comfortably in the surface. If you could get a wd40, it would be good to take off residue but be sure not to run that hard as it could affect the color.Though to be sure, you can use any baby oil and a piece of cloth to clean it. It would take more strokes but would surely not affect the paint.

Use a hand hair dryer to heat the decal and GENTLY pull the decal off from a corner. You will be able to feel when the stickum starts to release. This is a hit and miss operation. It does depend on the quality of the material both Decal and trailer side. If the decal is on a aluminum sided trailer you will have to use lots of time with the heat..

If they have been on the trailer for some time,it's nearly impossible to remove the faint outline of what the logo looked like. That's how we located a former owner of a trailer we had that we could not obtain a title to from the current owner! LOL!

I took mine off on a very hot day, and used denatured alcohol to get off the residue. It worked very well. The hot day took the place of a hair dryer:)

if you want to try acetone, go to the cosmetic department of the store, and look at Finger Nail Polish remover. Our Walmart has straight acetone there, cheaper than the stuff over in the paint department. Test an area first. Too much can removed more than the sticker goo on some paints

Autobody shops use a product designed to remove residual glue from decals. Check with body shop or auto paint store to get a product designed to remove decals.
Remove (Peel) the decal with a heat gun or hair dryer,
Then dampen a rag and wipe off the residual glue. With a little elbo greese it will come off.
Any discoloration in the paint or aluminum from years of sun fading will not come out. So you may still have a faint shadow showing where the decals was even after removing the decal and the glue.
