Does anybody have any experience with the 6.6 in 2011? Found a nice one and was just wondering if anybody had anything good bad or indifferent to say about them. I’ve owned Fords with 6.0 and Dodge with 5.9 looking to upgrade a touch so never really driven Chevy diesels.

Got several friends with 2011 2500HD and 3500HD's, they all are pleased with they're trucks. No complaints using DEF. They all say the 2011 trucks are better on fuel that the 2008-2010's. They say no need for a chip or programmer, they pull like ****, right from the factory!! I know they can run off and leave me going up the east side of Black Mountain, N.C. like I'm backing up, but my old 2001 3500, 496/Allison boat anchor will catch them before Asheville!! Haven't driven one myself, price is way out of my range at the present time!!!

I've got several friends with them, None really pull much with them. So can't speak for heavy towing, But they seem to be real happy with them for daily drivers.
If GM did as good a job as Ford did with their 2011,They should be a great truck. DEF fluid is non-event. Add 5 gallons every 5000 miles. You can buy it almost anywhere. Walmart, Any autoparts house, Most truck stops.
As mention the 2011 get better fuel mileage with the SCR systems than the 2008-2010 diesel did with the large EGR emission systems.

Actually DEF was a major event during last winter in CANADA...since the tanks froze and the computer decided the DEF tanks when frozen were empty and threw the engine into limp mode... But that has been fixed...

I have a 2011 GMC Denali 2500HD I purchased in June. We pulled a loaded Sundowner 4 horse to San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Reno during the summer and just returned from Tulsa and you would not think it was hooked to a trailer. The engine brake is GREAT. The fuel mileage round trip to Tulsa was 12.9 on the dashboard readout. The DEF is no big deal. It is easy to purchase and add.
