Our 2001Kiefer has developed several nasty looking crusty rust type holes in the loading door. Can the door be repaired with new sheeting, or will the wood core need to be replaced , or just easier to buy a new door? Is there a place selling salvage trailer parts same as an auto junk yard?

Kiefer outsourced their doors and ramps in the early 2000's, and had a problem with them. Even if you found a salvage yard with a like trailer, it would have the same problem. The best way to fix your problem, is to have a new door made. You may be able to take it to a local fabricator, but he probably hasn't made many horse trailer doors, and it might look like it. You are about 100 miles from the Kiefer Built factory in Iowa, I would call them with the information on your trailer, and get a price. If it is a door that they use now, they should be able to make one before you arrive, and it should only take about 1 hour to install it at the factory.Kiefer Built has new owners as of last February, but they should have specs of earlier trailers.
