My husband and I are looking at a 2006 Chevy diesel 4x4 2500HD priced at 23,900.  It has 105k miles on it, one owner.  I'm concerned that it isn't enough truck to haul our trailer, and I've been trying to research it and I've confused myself.

Our trailer is a 3-horse Sundowner (steel frame) with a weekender package.  We weighed it with two horses in it, and with my dad's F350 the total weight was 15,700 lbs.

The GVWR for the truck we're looking at is 9200 lbs, so is it too much trailer for the truck to haul?  I just want something safe and trustworthy (but affordable to us) so I can feel comfortable hauling by myself.  I don't trust my dad's 95 model anymore.

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!!

I think its plenty enough truck. However, the price seems a little high for my area at least.

I pull a much larger and heavier all steel trailer with my f250.

Yes, I would say it is enough to pull your rig. I pull 22,000 lbs with my 3500 Dodge Ram srw, and it is fine. If you want to increase the load capacity, just install airbags in the rear, and enjoy yourself. Here is my rig with trailer in tow, and I have to pull the western mtns regularly.http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h84/siseley/new%20truck%20and%20trailer/newtrailerpicsandnewtruck019.jpg
