My Dometic Refrigerator has stopped working on electric.  It does work with gas however, even on gas the freezer works but not the refrigerator part.  At least it does not seem to be working.  The refrigerator is 15 years old so I suppose it’s time to get a new one, but if anyone knows a fix for this one, I would sure like to save the expense of a new one.  Most of my horse camping is primitive so it is not a real big deal if the electric does not work – but really need the refrigerator to work on gas.  Thanks for the help.

When we bought our LQ trailer. The refridgerator worked on electric but didn't on gas. My husband cleaned out the gas valve and all the little parts. It works great now. I no longer have the site, but if you do a search for the type of fridge and the problem there will be directions for how to do this..

Good Luck and Happy Trails..

I had the same problem several years ago on a 3 way fridge. We pulled the outside panel (on outside of trailer) and there were several "do-Hickey" (technical term) plug ins that had different colors on the end. One had wiggled loose, we plugged it back in and the fridge worked as it should.

Thanks folks.  I will try the do-hickey thing and see if I get any results.  Don't have a clue what to look for, but will see if things appear pulgged in.

With what you've described, it sounds as if you have lost the cooling unit. It is a sealed system. First the freezer cools, then the fridge. It works better on gas, which is why you are getting something at all.

Have you smelled ammonia or seen a green liquid anywhere around or in the fridge? If so, that is a dead giveaway of a leak.

No ammonia smell or green liquid.  I will most likely take it to an RV place and have them check it out.  I have an RV place that winterizes my LQ and I will have to have him check it out if I don't find anything that looks obviously "unhooked".  That is about the limit of my mechanical ability, I'm afraid.
