We own a 99 Suburban K1500 5.7 4wd.  GVWR is 7200 and Max Towing is 6000.  We are currently starting to trailer shop.  2 horses doesn't need to have a dressing room or anything fancy.  The horses are saddlebreds so not very large.

After doing some reading I believe I need to find a trailer that weighs around 3000 empty.  Then 2000 lbs of horse and some additional gear will keep me well under the 6k limit.  I could also move the gear into the Suburban to save weight there while still keeping under the GCVW.

I am finding it quite hard to find weights on trailers, most only list the axle capacities.

Any help or insight?

Thanks,

John
