Hi,My new 3 horse 9' short wall Elite l.q. trailer was just delivered and it is a dandy. Only thing is, I forgot to order a full length stud divider to separate the first stall, which I plan to use for storage. It has the standard short length horse divider. One option is to send the short divider back to OK from WA and get a replacement sent. I imagine the freight will cost a lot.Another option is to bolt a piece of rubber floor mat to the existing divider. A friend suggested it. I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has experience doing this and can offer me some tips? Thanks very much,Deidre

I tried the rubber mat deal and didn't like it. It would move and hit the horse and not really hold stuff very well. I ended up putting plywood there instead and it has worked well so far.

This was what I was looking for. Simple, cheap and effective. I wonder why it works for some and not for others? I'm going to price out welding the lower half of the divider from the factory, but if its too expensive I will consider hanging a rubber mat. One thing I like about the mat is it has some give if a horse is trying to balance with its feet next to it, unlike a solid wall. ~~ Deidre

I used a 3/4 Rubber Stall Mat. It works great. I left it 2'' long, so it drags the floor therefore it will not move on it's on during travel, and it keeps shaving from coming forward and makes a good floor sweep when I move it back once I get to the camp.

We have mats for the "stud divider" in both of our trailers and it works very well. At times a more solid partitiion would be good, but the rubber has advantages as stated above. We also put one on the 2nd divider in my wifes trailer as that trailer does not have mangers and she feeds on the floor so the horses get their head down while traveling and they can't mess with the other horse as easily.

I would be very interested to see photos of how you all attach the rubber mat to the divider. Also, 3/4" mats aren't available in my area. Would 1/2" mats work ok? Deidre

1/2 inch should work. I will try to get a pic tonight. I think most of ours were just attached to the side of the divider with self tapping screws and washers. Hanging them from the bottom also works.
