Hi,

I am new to the forum and I have a question. My wife and I have been trail riding for several years, and have finally bought our own horses (tenessee walkers). We are taking lessons and are going to join a club in our area which travel to different trail rides. We have been looking for a decent used trailer, but they are either to expensive or in rough shape around here. I was traveling past a Ford dealership near our home and saw a horse trailer in the back....a 2004 BP Silver Star starlite in what appears to be very good shape. I was approached by a salesman who told me they were selling it for a customer, and that he was asking $7,500.00. However, he admitted it had been sitting here for at least a couple of months with no offers and he is anxious to get rid of it. I have read some good reports here on these trailers, and also have seen that they are now defunct. I am looking for further opinions on these trailers, and how to approach the offer with the above circumstances.

I have only seen one up in our area but it appeared to be a typical mid line trailer. For recreational use I would think it would be fine.

Have you made friends with someone from your riding group, that you would trust to go look over the trailer for you???

Actually my brother in law who rides with the club, and is in the trucking business went with me. The trailer appears to have had little use as it is very clean inside and out, and everything is in good working order. The dealership is selling it for a friend of the owner and he was asking $7,500.00. I went in and offered $5K, and he dropped to 6K firm. I upped my offer today to 5.5K, but they were unable to get a hold of him until Monday.
