I will be looking at goosenecks soon. Have always pulled BP w/ this truck. I have an F250. I don't know if it's a regular or short bed. How do I tell? How do I know if it's long enough for the gooseneck to clear or need an extension? what options are there for getting the gooseneck hitch installed on the truck?

Well since I am thinking you maybe female, the fastest way to tell if you have a long bed or short bed is look at the holes in the top of the bed rails. If there is 2 on each side it is a short bed, if it has 3 on both sides it is a long bed. As far as the gooseneck hitch there is a few places around your location as well as a few places in Denton too. The options are going to be either the ond style gooseneck plate that bolts to the frame, then you have a fold down style like the B&W hitch which is going to be the highest price but will allow you to use you bed to haul other things too.

haha. thanks. just went and measured. the bed is just under 7 ft. (6 3/4) I thought it was a short bed or std. wikipedia says a shortbed is 6 ft and a full size bed is 6.5 ft. so I looked up under Ford and it says "Super Duty models have a short bed length of 6 ¾ feet and a long bed length of 8 feet." therefore. shortbed.
thanks for the advice on the fold-down hitch. I haul alot of stuff in my truck so that would be helpful.
dont ask me what type of engine my truck has. but ask me about my horses and I can recite the pedigrees back 8 generations and tell you who their famous ancestors were in ancient Roman times! LOL. just about.

I got a 2006 4 Star that just got a new to me Equalizer AM 1/24 Hydraulic Jack installed, my truck has an 8' bed and now I can't let the tailgate down!!! The Equalizer takes alot more room the the 2 speed "armstrong" jack. Broke out the tape measure and found that the neck on this 6 horse head to head is only 7'6" long rather than 8'..... That's where my 6' got to missing, so I ordered one of these, "Popup model SB1" this should make me 3' to the good and give me a little more room to crawl up into the tailgate!!!

in my opinion it does'nt matter on long or short bed and the trailer should not have a squared off nose.
