My gut feeling is there has to be a big difference in trailer amenities or something. Hard to believe, even with Elites superior craftsmanship, that a nine year difference in years the Sundowner would be cheaper.

I disagree genebob. I have a 1992 2H GN 4 Star and a 2005 3H GN Adams with very similar features. Even with a 13 year difference, I could easily get 2X more for the 4 Star over the Adams.

My guess would be that the Sundowner was one of the last steel framed 727's that he was getting a price on. If the trailer was a Sundowner 720 or 725 it would have been higher in price than the Elite, with the difference in age. We sell both Sundowner and Elite and as new trailers they are very similar in price if they are the 720 or 725 Sundowner models.
