Try Brushy Creek. The trails are well marked and the owners are super nice. They have a wonderful lodge with pool table, hot tub and big screen tv. Very comfortable. And if you choose not to cook they serve breakfast and dinner. The catfish is out of this world!! Free shavings and firewood too

Oh, there are so many nice places to ride in MO. My favorite MO trail riding destination is Big Creek Trail Rides. The organized rides are fabulous - eat, sleep and ride. You can ride on your own, so don't think you have to ride in a group. Big Creek offers lots of scenary and the Current River is beautiful. You can ride here anytime of the year too, not just during the organized rides. We go here twice a year and have been going for the past 7 years.
We also like 4-J Big Piney. You can only ride here during their organized rides. Scenery is pretty and the bluffs are awesome, but not as many accessible trails from the camp as Big Creek. I know I'll get blasted from someone who loves 4-J, but I really don't feel there are as many "destination" rides as Big Creek offers. And if it rains a lot, it is very dangerous or next to impossible to access the trails across the Big Piney River along with the lower camp possibly flooding. We still go here once a year, as we enjoy the people and the trails are nice. Food is very good too and the mess hall is air conditioned.
We are going to check out Brushy Creek this year as several members from our MFT club enjoy this camp.
For a weekend ride check out Eagle Ranch, Berry Bend, Pomme de Ridge, and Huckleberry Stables. Ponderosa trails can be accesed just be warned that you will be riding on Bank Owned land to get to Huckleberry Ridge trails. We really enjoy Rick at Huckleberry Stables - but it is very difficult to get a large LQ trailer into his camp. He has very nice cabins to rent though.
There are lots of nice places to ride in MO. We spend a large portion of our vacations somewhere in MO trail riding every year. We are planning our trail ride schedule now and dreaming of warmer days ahead... only 8 more weeks until Spring! I can hardly wait.

I agree with the Brushy Creek recommendation... we went twice in 2010 and loved it... nice camp, nice people. Planning to go back again this fall. Going to Eagle Ranch in Collins, MO for an ACTHA ride in April. If you haven't checked out ACTHA, you should. We've mainly horse showed (Paint breed shows and NCHA cutting) but loved ACTHA's format... trail riding with competition in a fun, relaxed setting. www.actha.us is their website.

Brushy Creek is one of the worst we have to offer. The campground is nice and very expensive. The trails are poor to bad. St Louis City has better trails than Brushy Creek.
Any where around the Big Piney river is nice riding. Big Creek has nice trails. Any where north of Eminence, MO is nice riding. Slabtown trial ride has some nice trials, as does the 4-J campground(Big Piney area)
