Well..it was time..we had owned our 2000 Ford PSD 4x4 super cab for about 7 yrs...maybe 8. She hauled me all over the place and recently we have had some problems..not enough to cash her in but it was starting to add up. The choice was trade her in or fix. But after thinking it over, all the fixing up would result in a 11 yr old truck that had a facelift. So we found a 08 Ford 4x4 6.8L gas engine V-10 (ouch) with a 5 speed auto and super cab. 26K miles. Clean, with lots of options and SPARTAN GREEN. It was fate. The only compromise was I wanted a full sized bed but this one was short..you just can't have it all I guess. New trucks were simply out of the question plus its tough to find used trucks with full sized beds. Just took a day long trip of about 500 miles ( no trailer) and it was a nice ride..solid truck..we like it very much. It even came with intergrated brake control and holes already drilled for the gooseneck ball hitch!Life is good....

Congrates you will enjoy it. And while the truck doesn't look very different from you 2000, Ford has made many improvements to trucks over the 8 years.

OK, having major truck envy here. Not hauling a lot and my truck does ok, but really want to upgrade to 3/4 ton and get a somewhat larger trailer, so...glad for you, wish I could have one too!

Sounds like you got rid of a 7.3 engine???? My dealership says they have a waiting list for folks WANTING that engine. Bestest engine Ford has made. What a pulling machine. We have a 2001, and have decided that when it comes time, to rebuild the 7.3. What a work horse.

Yes..it was hard to part with the 7.3 BUT there were other issues. At what point do you fixer her up and drop in more money or cut your losses? The 08 has a different trim level than the 00...and I do like the seats better in the new(er) truck..and that could be simply they are newer. I like the fact that most of the operational aspects are the same...hate trying to figure out new windshield wipers.so far..still in love.

One of the reasons we didn't want to buy a used Ford PSD is the newer 6.0 engine. A new truck was just not an option. About the only thing we didn't have a problem with was the engine...
