I'm interested in your opinion about Circle J trailers. 05 Aluminum wood treated floor and fiberglass roof. This is a 4 horse bumper pull. Is a fiberglass roof really safe? I have warmbloods. # of the 4 are good haulers one is awful. Just rescued her 17.2 and it's going to take some time. Doing local hauling but non the less in the bay area, CA and there is a lot of traffic and folks that don't know squat about hauling or driving around those of us who are hauling. Thanks for your opinion.

sure makes for a cooler ride. I had a 2001 with a fiberglass roof. Loved how much cooler it was on a hot day. Never had a horse hit it's head on it though so don't know about safety. If you have a horse that is 17+ hands, I would definately get a 7'6" tall trailer. That would make you worry a little less I think. Circle J makes the taller trailers too so I would look for one of those. The bigger your trailer is, the least likely your horse will feel claustrophobic in it.If your horse has trailering issues, I would recommend a slant load.

put the one that hauls badly in the rear stall, that way they are not waiting on the others to load or un-load. That first step will make the horse worry less.

I was always concerned about what the weather would do to the fiberglass roof, but I don't have to wonder anymore. I have had a 1975 2 horse Circle J extra-tall and wide trailer now since 1984. It's been baking in the New Mexico sun for 27 years now and not a crack in it! What is this stuff anyway :) Nothing around here has stood up to the sun like that trailer roof!

Yeah- the difference on a hot summer day is huge! The fiberglass makes for a much cooler ride for the horses as well. I would go fiberglass again any day. Have you seen what an aluminum roof can do to a horse that put his head through it? Bad bad. Just get an extra tall trailer. I wish that I had. That is my only regret on my nice trailer. Wish I had gone 7'6 tall or more.

Yes, it really makes sure of a cooler looking ride and sure is a lot less hot on a sunny day. Though if you are looking for something that would not give that much light, then a fiber glass roof would probably not be a good option for you.I am pretty sure that with good seals, they would not break easily unless given with great force. Be sure to look for the consistency of grains as that would make for a stronger roof.

Have had Circle J trailers with fiberglass roofs since 1974. Loved them! No issues, no leaks. Much cooler than my Trails West with metal roof. (which I am going to insulate soon)

I had an ?84 Circle J with fiberglass roof. LOVED IT. Had some "thin" areas that an RV place filled in for me. Also - when my horse decided to put his front feet into the feed manger one day, the fiberglass ceiling was great. Even though he pressed against it, in his struggles, the worst that happened was that it popped rivets from the ceiling supports. Easy to fix.
(We later found a yellow jacket/ hornet nest behind the the emergency door latch! We figured when I loaded him and slammed that door, the bees went into the trailer and attacked him.) Scary. Everything ended well.
