I just bought a 92 Trail-et with fans in the horse area. The previous owner never used them so was not sure if they work, but I thought I'd give them a try. They are supposed to connect to a battery in the dressing room, but there is no battery in the case. What kind of battery should I get? Thanks for any advice!

I would get a marine/rv deep cycle battery. I bought the biggest one Wal-Mart had...it was around 100 bucks. Deep cycle will allow you to run the battery very low and recharge without major consequence. I can say that fans use a ton of power from a battery. I run the exhaust fan in our LQ when it's too nice for a/c and if the battery charger is not plugged in or it's not hooked to the truck charging, it will die within about 2 hours of constant running.
If you plan to use it while you're traveling down the road, you will want to be certain that there is a 12v constant running from the truck plug to the battery.
Also, I bought a little battery charger from Harbor Freight that makes up for small draws, charges, and plugs into our 110v electric so when we camp I can run battery operated things (lights, fans, etc.) without worrying the battery will die. Not the optimum situation, but it works well. Leave it to charge when we go ride, use the lights at night when we get back.

There's wiring running to a battery case in the dressing room, and it looks like it runs to the fans, but I'm not sure. The woman I bought the trailer from said that's where the battery for the fans went. That's all I know!

I had a Trailet 2H Seville that was wired the same way. The fans and interior lites were wired to the battery in the box in the DR. That way you had lites and use of the fans without the truck hooked to the trailer. If you don't want to deal with the battery in the DR, then you would probably need to direct wire to the hot wire side of your trailer plug.

You may also want to make sure that the battery doesn't run the lights for the horse area and/or dressing room and any spot lights you have on the outside. I know the battery runs all of the above in my lq trailer.
To me, buying the battery and having the convenience of lights when not hooked up to the truck was worth it. I am missing that in my small 2h.
