Painted Horse- Interesting point to think about. Using the pin weight you give, and assuming that a GN will be 25% pin weight factor, your trailer can only run 5,964#..... Obviously the 9,000#+ figure is for a bumper pull as a GN that heavy with that little pin weight would fishtail worse than an intoxicated Labrador Retriever. One other question to the original poster- a 2H slant load trailer without an escape door usuaslly balances well. Make it a straight load, or shove the axles back to have an escape door on a slant, and it typically will run higher than normal tongue weight. And none of this takes into account a very short bed that can make turns dicey...Just some thoughts to consider.
