A hair dryer will soften the glue enough to pull the decals. The resulting residue can be cleaned by several brands of glue and label removers available at stationary stores. If the decal was on bare aluminum, acetone or finger nail polish remover will clean the area.
Unfortunately the decals will permanently leave a lighter mark than the surrounding areas. It is most difficult to completely eliminate the resulting shading affects, using abrasives and polishes.

Spray WD-40 on them and let it soak. If you keep it wetted down over a couple of day they'll peel right off. What glue doesn't come off. Just soak it a little longer and it should pretty much wipe off.
