I would like to think that we can all have our opinions, some more fact base than others, some just personal opinions without bashing and insults.

I'm just in a loving mood today. Must be because it's Valentine Day on Sunday.

I have 2 6.0's and one has a chip one doesn't....the one w/out a chip has never had a problem and is a running son of a gun. One w/ the chip has had some problems but when running correctly is an awesome pickup. I also talked to alot of mechanics before either were purchased and biggest thing they told me was keep red die and keep mods off them and you won't have any problems.

I can remeber when duramax first came out and it had just as many problems as the 6.0...if they kept making the 6.0 and kept putting money into it the motor would probably run perfect but they went bigger and better and are trying to give the buyer more options. Ford has always had good diesel motors and I'm betting that won't ever change.

As I understand it, the 6.0 wasn't going to be able to meet the 2010 emissions...and the 6.4 was a stopgap measure.

The 6.0 didn't meet the 2008 emmisions, Hence the 6.4L for  2008-2009.  Neither 6.0 or 6.4L met the 2010 emissions. So they stopped production Dec 2009 and the all new Scorpion 6.7 engine starts production this week.

The DuraMax NEVER had the issues the 6.0 did.Issues yes.But nowhere near the disaster Ford and the 6.0 had.

Well all I can say is I have a 06 F250, 6.0L diesel in it. I have 63k on it and I do alot of towing with it and it's my daily driver. I have had only 1 problem with it. It wouldn't start and they never knew why it did it  or what caused it, but since then it has never missed a beat. It has no after market performance anything. I keep regular maintenance on it and so far I would buy another Ford...

Being a DMax owner (on my 4th) I can tell you that they have sure had their share of problems. Injectors being the largest problem. I've run them chipped and unchipped. I know people that have increased their horsepower way more than I ever have mine, and have never had problem one. But I also know people that have had a lot of problems on their stock DMax.

Every manufacturer and engine has it's share of problems. When the 6.0s first came out they had their share of them. Would I recommend someone buy a 6.0? No. BUT, that doesn't mean that there still aren't good ones out there.

To the original post... IMO, If you aren't having problems with your 6.0, and it has served it's purpose faithfully, keep servicing it and drive it a little while longer. Wait for the new round of engines to get out there and see how everything shakes out.

God ENOUGH ALREADY!!! Some people like Fords, some people like Chevys, and some people like Dodges. Same as everyone has their own opinion on their favorite horse breeds. In this household my husband loves his Ford with a 6.0 engine along with his quarterhorses as he is a team roper. On the other hand I LOVE my Duramax and my throughbreds as I ride eventers. If for no other reason it makes for some interesting dinner time conversation. Y'll have a nice day Happy Valentines Day!
