What are your experiences with internet dish access. Some in my area use an internet dedicated dish (not the multifunction TV/internet version)for internet access in their homes. Rather than setting up live TV, I'm wondering if access to news/weather can more easily or universally be gotten through a computer, using a TV/DVD for entertainment. I live in the upper midwest. Your thoughts please.

If you're thinking about streaming video, downloading movies. Then no, you would exceed your daily bandwidth (Fair Access Policy)....and then they (HughesNet) slows you down so far, that dial-up seems fast. $60/month gets you 500 meg daily.

FCC regulations ban installation of internet transmitting devices on a vehicle. I looked into having a Hughes dish put on my LQ trailer and Hughes said no. For TV your best bet is DirectTV, for internet a smart phone or air card. Funny story in inquiring with Hughes about an internet dish. At that time, and maybe still today, Hughes customer service was based in India. I used their online chat tool to make my inquiry, and there was a very LLOONNGG pause when I indicated my question had to do with getting internet access in my horse trailer. In hindsight, its quite amusing visualizing the cultural translation challenge to understand why someone would want internet in a horse trailer, for someone probably not familiar with LQ trailers. I should have just said RV.

Sportchassis sells the internet packages for their trucks. It is my understanding, you can get it anywhere you can get signal, like satelite radio. They told me that if it was in the truck, you could also access it in the trailer as long as the truck was parked within a certain radius of the trailer. A lot of the prevost buses that the country music folks have use this same system.

If Sports Chassis can't help then contatct Diamond Coach. They do buses, Prevost, for the country western singers. Located near Nashville Tn. Kylee Ervin runs the company. Have not met her but her grandmother is a good friend. www.diamondcoaches.com She probably could help also.

As someone who has had the privilege of travelling in a Diamond Coach converted Prevost, your friends granddaughter's company knows what they are doing ! Yes I have surfed the internet and watched dish or direct ( don't remember what one was on the bus) while in motion. Just do some google searches for in-motion television or internet.
Now I just have to figure out how to get my horse up the stairway into the bus ...
