I have a WW 3 horse slant BP with stock sides. It has rings to hang those corner black hay bags, which I purchased a couple of years ago after getting tired of hanging the regular hay bags. The problem I encounter is just about everytime I haul a horse one of the snaps that it hangs from gets broke. The last time I hauled a horse, last Thursday, he got his right front front in it even though it was hanging as high as I could get. I usually don't hang one of these black bags unless I have a long distant to go or if I know the horse gets antsy when in the trailer and needs something to do.
Am getting tired of replacing the snaps, have been using the double ended snaps, and have thought about going back to just hanging the bags I was using..
What am I doing wrong or are the black bags just not worth it??

Linda, Most of our customers do not use the feed bags for that very reason. They keep them available to feed on a long trip, but for the boredom aspect the haybag seems to win out everytime. There's just not much room, and little else to do for a horse, other than tear the feed bag up. In fact, when a new trailer comes with bags, we take them out and hand them to the customer because if we don't, the bags usually won't make it through the first trip. Just my thoughts.

I have some in my trailer. They have held up fantastic in the 9 or 10 years I have owned the trailer. Mine came with snaps attatched and they have held up well. I do have one horse now who occasionally sticks his foot in one. The darn bags are still holding up to it. He now uses a hay bag as I can't afford to have him stick his foot in them anymore (he's done it twice). Most of my horses don't play with the bags. Mine are made of very heavy material and come with some decent snaps. For your horses, I would just hang the hay bags and be done with it.

I have used the corner feeders also. My TWh is fine with them but my MFT rips everyone down so now I haul with nothing...They don't get anything until we get there and they are fine with it....

I psoted a question about this last year. I had hay bags in my 2000 Classic trailer. They held up for the 5 years that I owned the trailer. Worked great.
The Logan trailer I have now didn't come with any bags, So I bought some. They lasted 3 trips. Horses had ripped the grommet out of at least one of the corners.
I don't know if the quality of the new bags just wasn't as good as the ones that came with my previous trailer, or if my horses have just become more destructive. I have not fixed the bags, just removed them and throw a small flake of hay on the floor in front of the horses for longer trips.
