Has anyone been to the Spirit of the Suwanne in Live Oak, Florida with their horses? The website is www.musicliveshere.com. Any information will be appreciated.

I have camped there with my horse but it's been a few years. They have water/elec and nice big stalls. If the stalls are full, they will erect pens for you. I had a nice time while I was there and got in plenty of riding. They have some trails on the property and then the rest are on water management properties which adjoin each other. I hope this is helpful.

Thanks for your reply. When you were there, were they renting the golf carts? If so, are the carts allowed on the horse trails or just around the facility itself?

Well, I'm sorry, I can't answer that question. I don't think the golf carts would make it through some of the trails as some can be wet or quite deep in sand. However, you could always give them a shout and ask. I think we may have passed a golf cart out on the trails now that I'm thinking back. I'm not sure if they belonged to the people or not. Do you have a non-rider with you?

I was just wondering what my horse can expect as far as activity on the trails. My horse has seen many things so I am hoping he will be fine. I am sure as long as I stay clam, my horse will follow suit. My honey is going with me and will not be riding but I was not asking about the golf carts for him. I did pick the place because it has other things besides just riding for him. Thanks again for your reply.

I have camped there several times. It is a fun place to get out of the winter weather. For our group, it was a eat alot ride a little kind of place. There are wild hogs there to watch out for on the trails.

I doubt you will run into any golf carts on the trails. Ditto on the hogs, though all of Fla has wild hogs. You might also see some deer. I camped at Suanne once, but they have gotten very pricey and if they are haivng any music events will not allow horses to camp there.
Another option if 7 Bar L Ranch close by that is privatly owned. Andy and Crystal Lawrence are very accomodating and very nice. They have about 300 acres total, around 8 electric/water campsites around a lake as well as a few with sewer. Two bathouses, campfire with supplied wood and chairs, dogs welcome, 12 covered stalls, tack/feed room, and several grassy pastures. Prices are very reasonable. You do have to ride about 15 minutes to reach the trailheads to Lineville and Mattair the water management areas, but nice riding to get there. You're about 10 minutes from the town of Live Oak which is very handy. They make you feel very welcome, so most of my friends are now camping there instead of Suwanne.
They even have a small cabin fully furnished, but I didn't look in it when I camped there. You can ride over to Suwanne and ride their trails and then continue west through Fox Trail WMA and to Alldart. Mattair is to the west of 7 Bar L, and you can also ride Woods Ferry, so the total riding area is quite extensive.

Yes, on the trail you may see pigs, deer and an occasional armadillo. Only the normal Florida stuff. It is a good choice if you have non-riders with you. If you are going on a weekend or holiday weekend, there should be others who will ride with you. Be safe.

We went to Spirit of the Suwanne this weekend. My horse did fine with all the golf carts and commotion. There were a few golf carts that were on the horse trails right around the park. It was really a busy place. I am glad I did NOT know about the wild hogs. We did not encounter any this weekend. We have already been charged by a wild hog at Hard Labor Creek last April and it was not enjoyable to either one of us...but we did survive! I really did not know my pony could run that fast. Thanks to all of you for your replies.
