I thought I had seen/read about some kind of cushioning you could put under your trailer mats to give your horses a better ride? I've searched on line but can't find what I'm looking for.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where I can get this product?
One more question, what about shaped saddle racks for the dressing room? My trailer now just has round metal poles for saddle holders the the saddles just slide right off. Where can I get some kind of saddle holder that will attach to the posts that are in there now?

A WERM rubberized coating can be applied to the flooring surface while will add additional cushioning. Richard at Select Trailer can help you with that.

These are good saddle racks that can be added to most existing supports. They are also available as individual, stand alone racks:

Saddleboss works real good. Just sold my trailer that I'd put them in and the new owner paid me extra to leave them in. Will probably put them in my new trailer even though it has a factory rack. They hold a saddle GREAT. They mount on a 2" tube, just use your imagination probably can be adapted to what you have.
Best thing we've found to do with saddle racks are, take them out of the trailer, mount them in the tack room in the barn. Put your saddles in quilted saddle bags and just stack them in the corner of the mid tack floor.

We had the foam cushion under our mats in our Elite trailer - can't remember the name though. Took it out because it holds moisture between the cushion and aluminum flooring and takes forever to dry. Using a deep layer of shavings offers the same cushion as the spongy cushion.

I just installed cushioning for my 3 horse slant.
I bought rigid foam insulation, put it down over the orignal mats, then installed new rubber mats over that.
It cushions the ride for the horses, and provides insulation from the heat of the road.

I put the soft step mats in my trailer last year. Really feels good on my feet! I think it is a different cushion than shavings. A friend put them in her trailer instead of special boots on her flat footed horse. I got them through Valley Vet but doesn't look like they have them now.

I put Pro-Cushion foam under my mats 6 years ago and they
are still holding up. I called the company back this winter and
they had to close the business. Since I couldn't get those, I went
to my local Sams Club and bought the workout mats that peice together.
They aren't as good, but they do give more support than shavings alone.

I forgot to add, I also had my floor sprayed with a bedliner product before I put the cushion in. Now I don't have to pull out those mats or cushions to clean the floor. I also use shavings to soak up any urine

Pro Cushion used to come in 4x8 sheets; whereas Soft Step comes in rolls that is 50" in width. It is a closed cell polymer that doesn't soak up moisture, however as an earlier post said, it does keep the floor moist below it. I use it in my personal trailer; and for hauling performance horses or horses long distances, the benfits outweigh the moisture concerns. I think of it as comparing the difference of wearing a "gel souled tennis shoe or a leather souled shoe". It takes the vibration out of a trailer floor, and gives a much better ride for your horse. I call it a "poor man's air-ride".
I have customers that compete in endurance racing, and other performance events (speed events and cattle events) that call Soft Step "their secret weapon". Fresher horses coming off trailer rides, will usually make for doing better in their given events. Just my two cents worth on cushioned matting.
