I'm a first time trailer buyer -- so appreciate input.  I'm looking for a small 2H GN - will haul only one horse.  I want all aluminum to keep weight down.  I'm looking at a new Featherlite 2H GN trailer - the weight is good and it's "large horse" trailer which will work well with my 16.3H Friesian gelding.

So just looking for input on the quality of Featherlite trailers.  So far I've heard generally good things but would appreciate input.  I'm also leaning towards getting WERM treated flooring -- I like the notion of "no mats" and "no pulling mats" for floor maintenance.

Go to the upper left hand corner and click on "search". Click on trailer talk, enter Featherlight under "keyword for body and subject, choose 365 days and enter. You will find some threads and opinions about these trailers.

The big horse featherlite (7'6" tall x 7'6" wide) will work fine for your Friesian.  If you are only going to haul him alone, he will be able to use the whole space.  Are you looking at the straight load or angle haul?

Be sure to check the width of your Friesian.  If you get the straight load, make sure he will fit or be sure the center divider is removeable.  The other thing to check for is whether or not your Friesian is a manger rider.

When I got feedback from the lists, most people recommended 7'6" height and width.  Most liked aluminum trailers.  Many liked ramps.  A few liked steel trailers and some used 7' tall trailers and said they were just fine.  It comes down to what size trailer works for your horse.  The brand is up to you.

What truck are you going to haul the trailer with?

Thanks for input -- trailer I'm looking at is a straight load and the center divider does come out.  I'm going to see if I can special order a full width butt bar so I can have him in a "box" stall (ie entire trailer).  No manger -- I've heard too many bad things about mangers.

You could also get a slant load and take out on of the divider, hence making a double stall: that's what we did with our Shire (17'1 and growing). We basically have a 4H slant and haul 3 horses

What size is your trailer in which you haul your 17.1 hand Shire?
