Hi, I have an older aluminum trailer that does not have a removable back tack and I would like to purchase one. Any ideas of where the best price can be found on this item. I am in KC. Thanks Alicia

Make, Model and Year of your trailer..? How many saddle racks needed..?

Perhaps you could contact the mfg. of your trailer and see if they may have something out behind the shop that would work....? Or they could fabricate one for you.

Some friends of mine recently bought a Double D trailer that has a unique back tack. Instead of collapsing, which necessitates taking all your gear out, the whole back tack swings out. This way you can have your full trailer width for loading/unloading your horse. The floor is separate so no pee or poo travels into your tack area. Also, your tack ends up outside the trailer where it's more accessible for tacking up. I thought it was VERY cool when I saw it! I wonder if they'd sell the swing-out tack part and you could have it installed in your current trailer? It just might work! You can look at their trailers and the swing-out back tack feature on this site. I've never seen any other trailer with this configuration.

We have had several trailers with removable rear tacks.  In fact, our 4 H has a removable rear tack  because we need to haul mowers, golfcart, or large 6 wheeled CATV in the trailer. However, we don't like leaving our tack 24/7 in a removable back tack because where we live it molds quickly!  The Double D concept sounds interesting especially if you can control the amount of air getting to the tack.

Food for thought!

There's a good pic of the rear tack on HTW ad #193013. It's unique.
