After having recent generator issues, the authorized CAT gen folks said I need a box to cover my rooftop generator as the control panel on top is not weatherproof. Can I buy one already done or does it need to be fabricated? I have a CAT Diesel power tech RV generator.

The Generator Mfg. should have some suggestions of how to "weather proof" your generator. Did you install the genset or was it already installed when you bought the trailer? Any genset mounted outside exposed to the elements should have been properly covered before the trailer was sold... Installer should have seen to it that it was properly covered....

Yup, came installed by the conversion company. Dealer has stood behind it so far. Had it repaired, dealer footed the bill. Now, just trying to get it covered properly so it never happens again.

I would check the RVIA code regarding generator installation. If it states that the generator should be enclosed, then send a nice but firm letter stating that they are in voilation of the RVIA code and you require them to make it right.
If this is not the case, you'll most likely have to have one made or check with other trailer MFG's and see i9f one of there boxes would work.
