I pulled several brands of gooseneck trailers with my 2000 and 2003 F350 Short bed. Never had any problems and never used a hitched extender.
You will have to look at the trailer you are purchasing and see how it fits. I guess if it's square enough on the front, there is a problem with the trailer bumping the truck on very tight turns. It was never a problem with any of the models I towed. My current truck is a 2006 F350 Long bed. I bought it because it allows one extra bale of hay in the bed vs what I could fit into the short bed.

It really depends on the width of the trailer. I have an 01' F350 CC SB that pulled all my trailers great. Then I bought a new 8' wide Kieffer last fall. When I pulled it out this spring I decided to check out just what my turning radius was. Turned just as sharp as I could until the nose was 1/2" from my rear window. Got out my quick square and checked and it was only 50 degrees. Now I also own a 05' F350 CC LONG BOX. I can safely jack-knife that trailer around with out worry.

About to buy new truck (F350.) Can I pull a three horse slant 4Star or Featherlite with a short box? Advice would be appreciated, Thanks.
Yes you sure can, but becareful and watch when turning, seen lotsof back window get knocked out and cab corners get dented when people forget how short the bed is and how close the trailer is setting to the cab.

Things to consider when buying is where else are you going to take your pickup. If you have to try and find a parking spot for your truck in town a short bed will be better are you going to use your bed to haul with. But I have a 04 power stroke short box and a 05 power stroke long box dually. I love them both and never had a problem pulling my 4 horse living quarters thats 28ft on the floor with either truck.

HD just a tad aggressive arn't you? "Useless" is your opinion not a fact. We gave up the 16.2 extra inches for many reasons. We do not use the truck for everyday use or work our SB F350 dually crew 6.0 is a toyhauler and in my opinion has no degradation of space loss in our application. I think I had at least a 1/2 of a cord in it Memorial day weekend :)

I didn't think so.I could have said a SB is a waste of a good diesel or as useless as boobs on a boar hog.The closer in to the sub divisions and the 'malls' the more SB you see.Once you put a trailer in the bed of one thats it as far as space.
