Her tail is beautiful.  I wish I could get my appys tail to grow.  I'd be happy if it went past the tail bone!!

Ahhh, thank you! It takes alot of care to get it that nice out on the ranch. I love those "broom tail" appys! Is that what you have? They seem to look alot better with their tail that way, just fits them.....

Wrangler's (momma) tail is very thin and is only one fist below the end of the tail bone, very short skimpy mane.  Her filly, Squirt (baby#1) had a beautiful long mane and her tail was almost to the ground when they were chewed off by Doc (baby#2).  It's been a year and it hasn't grown back yet.  Doc has a long mane and tail, but very thin.

If you could see the picture in my avatar Wrangler and Squirt are left and center.  I have a matching pair.  Almost twins, except for Squirts thick mane and tail.

The best thing we've tried for tangles, burrs, etc. in manes and tails is Isotope Oil Sheen spray, blue spray can found in the ethnic dept at Target, Walmart, Kmart. REALLY gets knots, burrs, debris, tangles out of tails. Plus it conditions the hair with mink oil and lanolin. Works well for showing also, not as "slick" as Showsheen, so you can saddle up after a halter show, no sliding around. The best kick is, it's under 5 bucks a can, been using it for over ten years with excellent results! In defense of MTG, it is a great product for tail growth, skin conditions, scratches, etc. It may smell, but hey, we all smell a little.........having horses is a smelly job,but when I give my horses a good hug, and breathe in, its the best perfume in the world!!!

Does anyone have advice on how to keep the top of the tail from having short broken hair? Bristles. My mares tail is long and beautiful but the very top is not. I condition, with oil(skin so soft and or mane and tail). Any suggestions.
