My wife, is looking at a used 20000 mile, rental return, 2007 Yukon XL Denali, 6.2 380hp all aluminum gasoline, 6 speed auto. Truck is "loaded", looks like it has pretty much everything that one could wish for..... It's even shod with "double deuce" (22's) wheels, not too fond of that myself, looks like something from the "hood"!! Anyone out there towing 6000-7000#? We'll be towing a two horse trailer every once in a while... How is in on power, braking, handling, and most of all.... How is it on fuel??

We ride with a girl who has pretty much the same suv, except it has the 5.3L/4 speed/3.73 rear.  She hauls about 5K with it, and she loves it.  She came from a '98 2500 Chevy and says the Yukon has more power and brakes than the pickup.  She also said the air suspension is "wonderful".

Dont know if she has had it up in the mountains,  but with that 6.2 and the 6 speed I cant see you having any power problems.

We towed a 3 horse all steel Travalong with the exact same SUV for a few years. We used a weight distributing hitch, but the truck had plenty of power and towed well, was a really comfortable ride, even with the trailer hooked up. Had a few problems getting the truck to start though on the reallly cold winter mornings, . Not something you expect from a higher end truck . As for the fuel milage, all I can say is its better then the Hummer we replaced it with! :P

I used a Landrover LR3 to pull a two horse steel trailer with no problems. I think the key is how much the trailer weighs and how long it is. My two horse is only 14 feet so it's a nice balance between SUV and trailer.
