Hi, I am looking to replace my older steel trailer that we use in the horse and carriage business. It is a Big Valley, 8ft wide and ramp load, 24 ft on the floor. We roll the carriage in first shut the center gate and then the horse. I need a trailer with the widest possiable distance between the rear corners. It seems that the alum. trailers that I have looked at have more width to the rear corners than steel. I would not want to modify a trailer to get the clearence for the carriage. I need a trailer 8 ft wide, but the carriage axels are taller than the inner fender wells so that is not a problem. Any help on what brands have the widest rear clearence would be great. Thanks

I think I would look at a 6 horse H2H with a rear ramp.... Room in the rear for a carriage and room up front for the horses and tack, also load the horses on and off the side ramp with the carriage still in the trailer.... That's what we do with our Cherokee 6 horse head to head, 35' on the floor, (5' dressing room, 30' horse area, makes 3, 10'x8' box stalls) 43' total length. Can't help with who builds the widest. I know I've seen some Pegasus trailers that were 102". That trailer  was probably 98" inside rather than 96". Every Mfg.'s 8 foot is not exactly 8 foot!!

retento offers really good info and if you are interested, take a look at Bee trailers and see if they have something to fit your needs?  I've found that 4h HTH trailers are not too hard to find used.  That might be a good option for with the economy being down right now and horse people might be down sizing as well.  Attended an auction/sale recently and there were two HTH trailers there.

We have sold quite a few carriage trailers to customers that have everything from  two wheelers to hitch wagons.  An aluminum stock works well; and will normally be less money than a head to head model.  Head to head's are an excellent choice though.  Let me know how much clearance is needed in the rear entrance; and I will try and help you out with your needs.  Call me at 800 659-4051.

We carried our Vis-a-Vis and Meadowbrook in our Cornpro stock combo, 7' ceiling. It had a one piece tailgate with a sliding man door, no rear tack.
