Arena Trailer Sales is located in Cannon Falls, MN approx. 30 miles from Northfield, MN where Sundowner of MN is (was) located. I just got off the phone with Jim Simon, the owner of Arena Trailers and he confirms that the rumor is true and the trailers are on his lot.

IcePony- I thought of you when I saw this thread. Even went back and looked at it. Then decided to call Jim Simon directly. You were just a "woman ahead of your time."

I called Sundowner of MN and spoke with Rhonda, the owner and they moved the Sundowners to Arena trailer sales and she will be selling them from there. Not sure what "arrangement" was made and who owns the inventory or whether its an arrangement of convenience but clearly that is the new location for buying Sundowners in that neck of the woods.
Rhonda said she would send me a press release. When I get it, I'll post it here.
Sorry we have to be so careful about rumors, but you can tell where this board would go if we had no safe guard against false rumors. We just try to check with the "principals" first.

You are so right! The original post stated that "Arena Trailers did buy out SUNDWONER"! And that is FALSE! However they did buy out the Sundowner dealership in MN! I called Sundowner direct and a few local dealers and found this out!

Dave- That is exactly what my intention was. That is why I called Jim Simon, the owner of Arena Trailer Sales, direct. I have done business with Jim for years. I bought a trailer from him in 2003 and have bought and sold horses at Twin Cities Horse Sales for many years before and since. Jim has always treated me fair and I put him in the catagory of a very reputable person and businessman.

OK, here's the real scoop.
Arena Trailers has NOT bought out Sundowner of MN. There has been no sale of the trailers or business. Those of you that have talked to Jim have likely read through the lines just a little bit.
Of course Jim is "a very reputable person and businessman". We have had a very good working relationship with Jim, Mark and the entire Arena staff for years. We have always tried to deserve that kind of respect as well.
We HAVE essentially entered into a joint operating agreement that should benefit Sundowner of MN, Arena Trailers and the customers of both companies. The complete financial aspects of the agreement will remain between the principals.
Sundowner of MN (Rhonda) will be physically located within Arena's facility. Her and the entire Arena staff will be available to provide whatever products are best suited to each customer.
Economic conditions are tough. We all know that. This agreement made far more sense than expanding into a new facility for us. Staying at the Northfield location with the escalating lease rates was not a viable option. The most difficult part of any solution we considered was the uncertainty it would have for our highly valued employees.
This may seem like a technicality to many of you, and perhaps in some ways it may be. It seemed necessary to assure past, present and future customers that Sundowner of MN is still here for them. Come visit us at Arena Trailers for all your trailering needs!

Just like I said before this has nothing to do with SUNDOWNER, just the local dealership in MN!
So, where in the world did MNBARRELCHIC get so confused? That is why I called my local dealer (North Texas Sundowner) and ask him what was up and he had nothing but good things to say about Sundowner and Sundowner of MN and let me know that the actual SUNDOWNER Co. was not being sold like MNBARRELCHIC said to start with.
Good Luck to you all!

Would you please stop saying that one place bought a COMPANY? It is a DEALERSHIP that SELLS Sundowner trailers. Not the entire Sundowner Company.

Dave said ...and do your part for the economy.
I took my incentive check and bought some USA dirt, and paid an American to deliver it in an American-made truck, and spread it around. Does that count?
